Our recommendation: Compare these two gas models on handling, condition and service support. The separate EGO card is relevant only if you are also considering a change to battery power; it is not an equivalent version of either gas machine.

Handling is the useful distinction. Ariens Auto-Turn assists changes of direction. Toro uses a friction-disc self-propelled drive and Quick Stick chute control. Both clear a 24-inch path, so try the turning effort, reverse controls and chute operation with winter gloves before deciding.

For an older Toro, assess the particular machine. Engine displacement alone does not establish clearing speed or durability. Check the exact model, maintenance history, wear, parts support and warranty terms; an older specification sheet cannot establish the condition of a used unit.

If you are considering battery power: Include charging access, spare-battery cost and the work required between charges. The SNT2416 kit contains two 10.0Ah batteries, but that specification does not establish equal runtime or clearing performance to either gas model.
